Unfortunately, not all employee separations are amicable. In some cases, employees being terminated, suspended or reprimanded may not accept their new situation well.
In those cases, the presence of security or off-duty law enforcement will deter the effected employee from acting in an aggressive manner. The process in arranging this presence is quite simple. A company’s human resources representative will contact PPI Security with a time, location and brief history of the employee, and we take care of the rest.
Department heads, managers and supervisors should always assess the threat of an employee termination for the safety of themselves and other employees. Even the most seemingly even-tempered personnel can react surprisingly poorly when faced with the eminent demise of their position or career. Stress, personal strife or the feeling of failing can be enough to bring out the worst in some people. Adding employment termination to anyone experiencing such factors can be enough to send them over the edge and act out. In today’s uncertain climate, such preventive measures are preferable to a longer sustained security presence due to altercation of an emotional or physical and sometimes violent outburst.
